Learn About The Basics of Cloning Your Own Cannabis
I had the pleasure of talking to a Michigan home grower. This individual comes on the show today to talk about cloning. He can be found on Instagram @Skilbo1. I’ve been talking with Skilbo1 the past few days and I can tell he’s passionate about growing his own and he’s someone I know you will appreciate. He’s a home grower from Michigan and his growing medium is soilless that is peat moss based, but what I found interesting is he uses quadraphonic to clone and then he transfers his clone to soil. I think you’ll enjoy this show and look out for the questions when it ends. Please remember to subscribe and enjoy the show!

The basics of cloning: How does a new grower properly clone?
  • The critical aspect is to clone plants that are only healthy, if it is deficient in any way or sick, that’s a plant you shouldn’t clone. How can you tell if a mother is healthy?
  • Look for a kelly green color and bright. The leaves will be up aka “praying hands.” Age is important because you have to count down from a specific set of nodes. 3-5 is ideal. Try and use fiskars or scissors.
Gels and cloning: It’s not a must to use them, but Skilbo1 recommends you do.
  • Take your clones from the top of the plant. Take fiskars or scissors. Make your cut on a 45-degree angle and then stick into the water. Some people like to scrape the end of the clone to make it stronger.
  • Sprouting can take 7-14 days.
Temperature water and cloning:
  • Temperature water is important.
  • If the temperature gets too high, you’ll get rout root. If you catch it early enough, you can change your reservoir and redo the entire process, but Skilbo1 suggests you ditch the clone and retake your cuts and start from the beginning.
  • 70 degrees water temperature is ideal
  • If your water is too cold, you’ll get slow growth
  • Oxcycloner is priced around $80
Why do you do aquaponics as a cloning system then go into the soil?
  • Skilbo1 has had the best success with this method
What is the recipe you use in your cloner?
  • Skilbo1 got the recipe from medgrow1 on YouTube
  • You use 2 gallons of RO/ or bottled water and add it to the UC Roots, or you can use H202. (20ML of UC Roots which is 10ML per-gallon)
  • You Sterilize the water
  • Turn the pumps on
  • Add Hormex (B1 vitamin) as well as the Grow and Bloom Nutrients (6ML of Hormex which is 3ML per-gallon), (5ML of Micro Bloom which is 2.5ML per-gallon), (10ML of Boom which is 5ML per-gallon)
  • He takes his cuts and put them in the neoprene collars
Cheap Clone Method: (Poor man’s guide to cloning)
  • Cut off a plant in Veg mode and place that plant into bottled water under a light, and you should have roots within ten days
